Kyiv again under drone fire

Russian military drones have once again targeted the Ukrainian capital Kiev. According to authorities, the attack lasted eight hours and there were injuries. Other parts of the country were also attacked.

According to Ukrainian information, the Ukrainian capital Kiev was again the target of an hours-long drone attack overnight. The city's military administration announced that at least two people were injured.

Entire swarms of drones, as well as individual drones, have entered Ukrainian airspace from different directions and altitudes. The attack lasted eight hours. 36 drones were repelled. Debris fell in six different districts of Kiev. Fires broke out as a result of the impacts. Among other things, several residential buildings, a restaurant and a medical facility were hit.

Conflict parties as a source

In the current situation, information on the course of the war, shelling and casualties provided by official bodies of the Russian and Ukrainian parties to the conflict cannot be directly verified by an independent body.

The Russian army repeatedly attacks Kiev with drones and has increased the shelling in recent weeks. According to authorities, the capital has been attacked on six days so far in November. In October there were a total of 20 days.

Dead in Kherson and Yampil

Most recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj said that Russia is currently using around ten times more Iranian-made Shahed drones than it did a year ago.

Power outages were reported in the Zhytomyr region, which borders Kiev to the west, following a Russian attack, according to an energy supplier. Another Russian drone strike left one person injured in the port city of Odessa when drone debris damaged an 11-story residential building, Governor Oleh Kiper said.

According to military governor Olexander Prokudin, one person was killed by Russian shelling in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson on the Dnipro.

According to authorities, one woman was killed and another was injured in attacks in the village of Yampil in the northeastern Ukrainian region of Sumy, authorities said. Glide bombs also caused severe destruction. The public prosecutor's office has opened a war crimes investigation. It is said that the bombs were used against the settlement's civilian infrastructure.

Russia calls on the West to negotiate

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the capture of another town in eastern Ukraine. In the Donetsk Republic, the village of Kreminna Balka has been “liberated,” the ministry said on Telegram.

Map of Ukraine and Russia, light hatched: territories occupied by Russia

The secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, appealed to the West to prevent the “destruction” of the civilian population there by quickly starting negotiations on the future of Ukraine. The West is now “faced with a choice”: continue to finance Ukraine “and the destruction of the Ukrainian population, or recognize the current realities and begin negotiations,” the former defense minister said, according to Russian news agencies.

Shoigu pointed out that the current situation on the battlefield “is not favorable for Kiev.” Russian troops have made significant gains in terrain in eastern Ukraine in recent months.
