Family party after the opening game. Two DFB stars celebrated the victory against Scotland with their children.
The German players Niclas Füllkrug and İlkay Gündoğan celebrated the well-deserved victory in the opening match of the European Championship against Scotland with their children. Both brought their offspring onto the pitch after the final whistle.
European Championship goalscorer Niclas Füllkrug ran across the pitch with his daughter on his shoulder. “Beautiful. My little one is at an age where she already understands a little bit of it, and it's always really, really important for her that we win, otherwise she's sad,” said the 31-year-old after the DFB selection's 5-1 win against Scotland on Friday evening on ZDF. The Dortmund striker had scored in the 68th minute to make it 4-0.

Immediately after the final whistle, Füllkrug's daughter Emilia joined him on the pitch. “It was a great moment for me to celebrate with her,” said Füllkrug. “A European Championship victory in your own country, those are images that will stay with you forever.”
Füllkrug came on for Kai Havertz in the 63rd minute. “We were committed and didn't let up after a single goal. That's the energy we need, to always be greedy,” said the striker. “Over 90 minutes, that was a completely deserved victory. (…) It's an outstanding start to what we want: a summer fairytale.”
Ilkay Gündogan also practiced how to lift a trophy – and took his son Kai as a substitute. The little boy was also allowed onto the pitch after the victory and to look at the situation from the air above his father's head.
