Again and again late trains from Germany arrive in Basel, which disturb the Swiss timetable – now the country is pulling the ripcord: two trains that have so far continued to end at the border in the future.
Due to the constant delays of trains from Germany, Switzerland strokes the onward journey from Basel on two connections: from today on the Eurocity 7 from Hamburg and Eurocity 9 from Dortmund only to Basel. So far, the trains continued their trip to Interlaken Ost and Zurich. For the onward journey, passengers must now change at the Basel SBB train station.
The fact that trains end in Basel has occurred more often – from a delay of 20 minutes, they have already been taken out of circulation by Switzerland. Now the end of the journey in Basel is fixed until at least for the next timetable change in mid -December.
Return away without a changeover possible
On the way back from Zurich and Interlaken via Basel to Germany, passengers can continue to rely on continuous trains: the connections E6 and E8 start there as before. The route is served with Swiss trains anyway.
According to the SBB, more than 40 direct trains combine destinations in Germany and Switzerland every day, most of which drive in Basel without planning. Depending on the destination, many trains also run over Schaffhausen or Bregenz on Lake Constance.
