The 21-year-old athlete had already safely cleared the bar twice during the qualification when he then tore it down due to this mishap. He finished twelfth and, according to a report in the British “Daily Mail”, appeared resigned. “The Olympic Games are over. I'm packing my things and going home,” he said.
