Dead after the plane crash in Alaska

All ten people probably died on board during an airplane crash in Alaska. The pilot had not deducted an emergency signal. The search was made more difficult by icy cold.

In an airplane crash in Alaska, all ten occupants of the machine were killed. Two days after the accident, the authorities no longer assume that survivors can still be recovered.

The pilot and nine passengers were on board the Cessna Caravan. The authorities did not provide any information about their identity.

Although members of the search troops have so far only been able to identify three fatalities in the wreck of the broken machine, the search for other victims was hired. The coast guard involved in it assumes that the other dead are still on the plane, but have not yet been reached. “It doesn't look like a crash that can be survived,” said the commander of the coast guard, Mike Salerno, to the media.

Difficult search in icy cold

The Cessna crashed about 55 kilometers south of Nome on Thursday. According to the police and fire brigade, the aircraft was on the way from Unalakleet to the former gold grave city around 250 kilometers away when it disappeared from the radar off the coast. According to the flight data, the machine had suddenly lost very much in height and speed. Why did that happen that it can currently only be speculated about this. The pilot did not stop an emergency signal. Experts from the accident investigation authority NTSB are on the way to Nome.

After the crashed plane, was searched on the ground and from the air. Both an aircraft from the coast guard and a military machine were used for this. The search was made more difficult by the bad weather and the icy cold of around minus 16 degrees Celsius. The crash site can also only be reached by helicopter.
