In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbian nationalists try to remove their part of the country from the entire state. There is an arrest warrant against the President of the Republica Srpska. But nobody gets it. Why?
A video clip shows how well protects the President of the Republika Srpska these days in his country. Although there is an arrest warrant against him, Milorad Dodik visits the town hall of the city of Zvornik. When he gets out of the car, men immediately scurry through the picture in camouflage uniforms with machine guns.
Dodik should often have 40 to 50 such bodyguards around. They are police officers and anti -terrorist specialists from the Interior Ministry of Republica Srpska. Soldiers are not among them, because one army only has the entire state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There are many different allegations against Dodik, also from an international side: he drives the split off of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he shook nationalism, deny the genocide Bosnian -Serbian armed forces on the Bosnia war that he was an admirer of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and visits him regular Srpska Hochkorrupt.
Dodik is therefore under sanctions in the United States and Great Britain. He is supposed to lead the Republika Srpska like a family company. According to Transparency International, the majority of state orders receive business people from Dodiks family and Freundeskreis.
Fear of the Argument
So far, the State Police (SIA) refuses to arrest the Serbian nationalist. According to information from ARD studios Vienna the majority of the police have the opinion that a deal with Dodiks security forces would be too risky. It is also afraid that shot Bosnian-Serbian police officers on the street could cause turmoil among the population.
So far, citizens have been quiet, but hardly anyone seems to be behind Dodik and his conflicts with the Bosnian judiciary. There is a lot of rejection against the president.
Among other things, this impression gives a street survey by the Vijesti.ba news portal, in Banja Luka, the central city of Republika Srpska. “I was for 15 years for Dodik, now I have noticed that he is a corrupt high -stapler,” says a pensioner.
A young man adds: “It would be best, Dodik is arrested and corruption and crime in our country are put to an end.” And an older woman even wishes Dodik and “his gang” on the former Yugoslav prison island of Goli Otok, “that they chop stones there”.
Several years of prison sentence threaten
The longer nothing happens and dodik remains at large, the greater the damage to the rule of law for Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are arrest warrants against Milorad Dodik and the Prime Minister of Republica Srpska, Radovan Viscovic, and the parliamentary chairman, Nenad Stevandic. They face several years of prison.
Politicians are accused of an attack on the constitutional order of the overall state. They had not followed a summons of the public prosecutor's office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
To unconstitutional Laws involved
Dodik, Viscovic and Stevandic were involved in several unconstitutional laws of the Republika Srpska. Accordingly, the state organs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the police, the public prosecutor and the state court should be denied access to the territory of the Republika SRPSKA.
Dodik called on all Serbian employees in these facilities to run over to Republika Srpska. “We will make sure that you keep your rank. You will get a higher wage from us,” promised Dodik.
But the call has so far been in vain. The total -state organs are still active in the Republika Srpska and so far it has not been done against them. Dodik's threat of keeping any influence of the overall state away from the Repulika Srpska is currently a threatening gesture.
Sentenced to one year in prison at the end of February
Dodik already had a first process. At the first instance, he was sentenced to one year in prison and six years of the office because he had enforced illegal legal decisions of the Republika Srpska by decree. Accordingly, the decisions of the constitutional court and the high representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republika Srpska should not apply. But Dodik refuses to accept the judgment.
Now he caused further a stir this week with an action that looks as if he wanted to show that he can still dance around the Bosnian constitutional state on his nose. According to the Bosnian media, Dodik, despite his arrest warrant, secretly on an airplane, a Cessna of the Republika Srpska and flew to the Serbian capital Belgrade and then further to Israel for a conference against anti -Semitism.
The public prosecutor's office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has now issued an international arrest warrant and relies on the Interpol police authority. However, cooperation should not be expected from the Israeli or Serbian authorities.
