US President Trump is now continuing his massive austerity programs with the secret services. At the CIA foreign intelligence service alone, more than 1,200 jobs are to be lost. The NSA intelligence service is also affected.
The White House wants to reduce jobs at the CIA and other US intelligence services. The NSA intelligence service was also affected, members of the government of President Donald Trump said Congressmen. The Washington Post newspaper first reported on it, a consecrated guarantor confirmed the project in the conversation of the AP news agency.
According to this, 1,200 jobs are to be lost at the CIA abroad for several years, as well as thousands of jobs at the National Security Agency (NSA) and other secret services. According to the Washington Post report, hundreds of people who have already decided would be affected to retire prematurely. Further job cuts are to be achieved in part by fewer new settings and probably do not require any layoffs.
“Part of a holistic strategy”
In a response to questions about the plans, the CIA said that director John Ratcliffe was working on organizing foreign intelligence agency for Trump's priorities for national security. The measures are “part of a holistic strategy to give the agency new energy, aspiring leaders to give the opportunities, develop and to better enable the CIA to fulfill its order,” it said.
The CIA and the NSA have already offered some employees to cancel voluntarily. The CIA has also announced that it would release a still unknown number of recently hired employees.
The Trump government has also abolished programs for more diversity, inclusion and equality among secret services – whereby a judge blocked the planned dismissal of 19 employees who had been working on such initiatives and had sued them against their expulsion.
