Several French prisons have become the goal of attacks at night: cars went up in flames, shots were found. The Minister of Justice suspects a reaction of organized drug crime.
Approaches and attacks with firearms were committed to several prisons in France at night. At least six detention centers have become the goal of attempts to intimidate, said Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin when visiting the Toulon prison with Kalashnikov-assault rifles. The incidents ranged from cars set to fire to shots with automatic weapons. The anti-terrorist prosecutor has taken over the investigation.
There was no question of injuries. The minister suspects a coordinated reaction of organized drug crime behind the attacks, which France has announced the fight on various fronts. There were previously threats to two prison locations, where high -security prisons for convicted drug bosses are to be set up, said Darmanin. Prevention measures there had driven the perpetrators to attack other prisons, “to intimidate us”. The judiciary cannot be intimidated.
“Inacceptable attacks on employees”
The attacks were also affected by prisons in Valence, Nanterre and Villepinte, as the Minister of Justice said. There, cars from the prison staff were set on fire and there were threats to their suspected apartments. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau spoke of “unacceptable attacks on employees and ownership of the prison authorities”.
“These criminal acts are a frontal attack on our institution, the republic and against the officials,” said the FO Justice union. She called for a “hard and immediate answer from the state”. Another union said that the prison staff would not be enough to guard the parking spaces of the prisons around the clock.
Harder drug law in the
The Minister of Justice recently announced the construction of a high -security prison, in which all convicted serious drug criminal France is to be accommodated. It should be the end of the practice that serious criminals also had mobile phones behind bars despite the ban on and continued their machinations up to murder murders from the cell. In addition, a law is in France that should enable a tougher to pass against drug trafficking.
110 people were killed in violent acts in drug milieu last year. In addition, a record amount of almost 54 tons of cocaine was confiscated, more than twice as much as in the previous year. 341 people were injured in violence in connection with drug trafficking.
