Ex-Schwäger raises accusations against Hegseth

Hegseth, the controversial candidate for the office of US Defense Minister, burden new allegations. This time they come from his immediate environment: his ex-supporter claims that Hegseth had threatened his ex-wife.

Pete Hegseth's nomination as US Defense Minister was controversial from the start, now there are new allegations. The former wife of Hegseth's brother, Danielle Hegseth, accuses the former Fox news presenter in an affidavit that he threatened his second wife Samantha.

According to this, Samantha Hegseth is said to have feared for her security during the relationship. Once she hid in a closet in front of her husband and later called her sister -in -law to help via SMS.

Allegations forwarded to the FBI

Danielle Hegseth had already passed on her allegations to the FBI in December, but now also wanted to make it available to the senators who decide whether Hegseth was given the office. In her view, the ex-moderator is unsuitable for the office of Minister of Defense.

Hegseth denies the allegations. His lawyer said Danielle Hegseth apparently wanted to harm her brother -in -law family. His ex-wife never accused him of physical violence and also confirmed this in court. There is no official statement from her. However, she confirmed to the broadcaster NBC News, who was the first to report on the affidavit of her sister -in -law that she had never been physically abused.

Numerous Accusations

Since the announcement of Hegseth's nomination, a number of accusations against him have come to light. It was about alleged sexual assault, racist statements and alcohol abuse.

In the Senate hearing, Hegseth described the allegations as a dirty campaign. He added that he was not a perfect person and promised not to drink alcohol in his new position. Despite concerns, the responsible committee in the Senate waved its nomination to the plenum, which still has to agree.

Except for an unsuccessful application for a seat in the US Senate for Minnesota, the previous FOX news moderator has no political experience. Nevertheless, he could lead one of the most important ministries in the future.
