US government apparently is planning new entry bans

In his first term, US President Trump had already banned entry. According to media reports, people from more than 40 countries could now be affected again. The government has a corresponding list.

The US government apparently is considering far-reaching entry restrictions for citizens of numerous countries. As the New York Times reports, citing government circles, a list of 43 countries was drawn up, for which differently strict entry restrictions are to apply.

The Reuters news agency speaks of 41 countries and refers to “informed circles”. According to both, the affected states are reported to three groups.

Countries are divided into color

According to the New York Times, a flat -rate entry ban for people from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Iran, Yemen, Cuba, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Venezuela is to be imposed. These countries formed a red group.

According to the report, the report is to be severely restricted for people from ten countries from an orange group. Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan are therefore affected. Immigration or tourist visa should no longer be awarded to people from these countries, as the New York Times reports. Only “wealthy business travelers” should therefore be allowed to enter the United States – but you have to undergo a personal conversation before granting a visa.

22 other countries form a yellow group. These states should therefore get 60 days to clear up the US government. Otherwise, they should be sorted into the red or orange list.

Approval by Rubio is still pending

According to Reuters, a US government agent pointed out that there could still be changes to the list. It must also be approved by the government and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The newspaper also writes that the list was created by the US State Department several weeks ago.

Entry Already in Trump's first term

In his first term from 2017 to 2021, Trump imposed an entry ban for people from the majority of Muslim countries. The decree, which originally affected Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Syria, had been blocked several times by the US judiciary. Iraq and the Sudan were quickly painted off the list.

A final version, which also contained North Korea and Venezuela, was finally approved by the Supreme Court.
