France speaks of “excellent exchange”

For hours, Europeans, Ukrainians and US representatives in Paris advise on a possible end to the Ukraine War. France is satisfied with the results and announces a sequel.

After the Paris talks, France is satisfied with a possible end of the Russian war of attack in Ukraine. Élysée circles then spoke of an “excellent exchange”.

Ukraine, the USA and Europeans shared the same goal, namely to achieve a solid peace as quickly as possible and to be able to guarantee compliance with the fundamental rights of Ukraine. According to French information, it was the first time that Ukrainians, Europeans and Americans came together for discussions about peace in Ukraine.

Talks should continue next week

Since that morning, US representatives, Ukraine and consultants from the French, British and German government have exchanged their own in various formats in the Parisian Élysée Palace.

From Germany, the external and security policy advisor to the managing federal government, Jens Plötner, was involved in some of the talks. The head of the Kiev Presidential Administration, Andrij Jermak, and Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha came from Ukraine. As early as the coming week, Europeans, Ukrainians and US representatives will come together in the same format, it said from Paris.

Selenskyj refers to the limited mandate of his delegation

France's President Emmanuel Macron phoned after the talks with the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj. Macron had spoken to Selenskyj with Selenskyj before his meeting with the special sentence of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The Ukrainian president thanked Macron in the evening in his news channel near Telegram for his efforts. In a conversation with journalists, however, he criticized that Witkoff represented Russian positions in St. Petersburg after meeting with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin last week. He emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation in Paris had only the mandate to talk about a ceasefire – but not about the avoidance of areas required by Moscow.

Different Approaches at a table

The numerous rounds of talks in Paris were pursued with excitement because representatives of very different approaches for a possible end of the Ukraine war met. US President Trump wants a rapid end of the war and a rapprochement between the United States and Russia.

After contacts with Putin, Trump and Witkoff emphasized that he wanted her impression of peace. They are rather inclined to put Ukraine under pressure. Like Great Britain and other European countries, France, on the other hand, follows the approach of making Ukraine as strong as possible before negotiations and supporting them militarily.

Trump expects Russia to answer a timely response

According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, US Secretary of State Rubio informed his Moscow colleague Sergei Lavrow about the talks in Paris. Lawrow confirmed the willingness of Russia to continue working with the US colleagues “to reliably eliminate the basic causes of the crisis in Ukraine,” as the Ministry in Moscow announced in the evening.

Both ministers would have agreed to stay in touch – also with a view to the meeting of the Americans and Europeans with the Ukrainian side next week in London.

US President Trump, in turn, said in Washington that he expects feedback from Russia to a possible peace agreement with Ukraine this week. “We will hear from you this week, so shortly, and then we will see,” said Trump at a appearance in front of the press in the White House.
