Already in the election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly shouted against an alleged transgender madness. He promised him on the first day of his presidency. At the economic summit in Davos, Trump explained the world by video last week: his government took action in order to abolish all discriminatory nonsense in terms of diversity, equality and integration. America will be a performance -oriented country again.
Trump has instructed the federal authorities to close all diversity and inclusion offices within 60 days, insofar as this is permitted by law. What that means is still unclear. Employees were sent on paid vacation to switch off websites for diversity and equality programs. The US government also recognizes only two genders – male and female.
Equality programs In the Pentagon before the end
Transgender people should no longer be allowed to serve in the military. Like other measures, this should lead to a whole series of complaints. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, who lies in the fight against a “Wokes” military fully on Trump's line, said on his first day in the Ministry of Defense that he fully supported it to remove DEI programs from the Pentagon.
Dei stands for diversity, equity, inclusion – diversity, participation and inclusion. The idea behind it: offer everyone the same opportunities, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender, physical restrictions or sexual orientation. DEI training taught employees how they can understand and bridge cultural differences in the workplace.
Many guidelines for equality have their origin in the civil rights movement and have existed since the 1960s. Joe Biden also issued dozens of orders to promote diversity during his term.
Out of DEI programs in the Pentagon
As announced by Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, US President Donald Trump signed decrees to redesign the armed forces. The US Presidential Office said that the programs for diversity, equality and inclusion (Dei) in the army are abolished. In addition, Trump ordered the re -hiring of military members who were released on the basis of vaccination regulations. Another decree is to remove “gender radicalism” in the army.
Conservative defendants Discrimination – of white men
But Trump hits a nerve in conservative America with his “anti-woke course”. Also with Kendall Embry in Kentucky. He also chose Trump because he stands for his moral values. He believes in what is in the Bible, says Embry. The whole “Woke” stuff is ridiculous and simply does not correspond to common sense.
Arch -conservative Republicans have repeatedly denounced that diversity and equality programs are discriminatory – especially against white men. Most institutions have systematically preferred minorities – especially African Americans – told Chris Rufo from the conservative Thinktan Manhattan Institute for Policy Research on Fox News. The United States has now left behind, it was now a new America.
Employees are split
Timothy Welbeck, director of the anti-racism department at Temple University in Pennsylvania. On the NPR radio, he said that it was not a performance society to deny people opportunities – whether they were qualified or not. “The discussion about performance is often an attempt to undo opportunities for those who have already denied opportunities in the past,” said Welbeck. He predicts that racism and discrimination against minorities in the United States would increase again because the corresponding protective mechanisms no longer exist.
Numerous US corporations have already reduced their measures for diversity, including McDonald's, Meta, Disney or Walmart, the largest employer in the USA. The employees are split. In a survey by the Pew Research Center in October last year, 52 percent said that they considered diversity programs to be a mostly good cause. In February 2023 it was 56 percent.
