The Hamburg shoe retailer Görtz is again insolvent. The Hamburg District Court ordered insolvency proceedings for Görtz Retail GmbH on Monday, according to the state portal, bankruptcy announcements. The lawyer Gideon Böhm was appointed as a provisional insolvency administrator by the Hamburg law firm Münzel & Böhm.
First Bankruptcy proceedings ended in July 2023
It is already the company's second financial difficulty within a short time. It was not until July 2023 that the first insolvency proceedings of Ludwig Görtz GmbH ended with its two subsidiaries Görtz Retail GmbH and Görtz Logistik GmbH. At that time, investor Bolko Kissling had entered the traditional Hamburg company in 1875.
“After fully extensive renovation measures, it is time to work again on a successful future for the traditional company,” Kissling explained at the time. In the branches, logistics and the Hamburg headquarters, 650 jobs could be obtained.
2022 still around 1,800 employees
At the beginning of the first bankruptcy proceedings in September 2022, the group of companies still had around 1,800 employees. At that time Görtz operated around 160 branches in Germany and Austria. As a result, the company had to close numerous locations. It was often about rent debt. According to media reports, there are currently still a good 30 branches in Germany and Austria.
