What should I say? How to ask Companies for Coupons and Samples

The best part of couponing is 1) buying what you love, getting a great deal + using coupons and 2) getting FREE PRODUCT COUPONS (FPCs) for things you love.  But how do I go about getting FPCs?

Its actually easier than you think.  A lot of companies have Canadian websites, 1-800#s or emails that link right to customer service representative that want both constructive and complimentary feedback.  Here is a great list of companies that will mail you coupons with a request.

Head over to your pantry, cupboards, drawers and shelves and find those products you LOVE, write them down on a piece of paper, and then go settle in at your computer desk. Visit these companies websites and find the CONTACT US or FEEDBACK or EMAIL button. Most companies have a standard form to fill in.

If you are emailing asking for a coupon on a product you use all the time:

TIP #1

* Mention there company name with a compliment in the opening line.

* Mention a specific product

* Mention a health benefit

Example:  I just had to write you and let you know that I was so happy to see that your Maple Leaf, turkey bacon was added to the approved heart & stroke’s foundation healthy food list

TIP #2

Tell them about your family dynamics, how many kids, what their ages are, financial situation. Any special diet requirements  This part of your story will sell you the most

Example:  I just wanted to let you know our family of 6 (with 4 teenagers) tries to ensure we eat only the best quality products like Maple Leaf, as our budget allows; it’s hard sometimes to eat right with only one income in the house and my husband being on a low fat diet.

TIP #3

Ask for coupons and/or promotions & mention a competitor indirectly

Example: I was wondering if you could direct me to where I would find money saving coupons and/or promotions for your products like Larsen offers. Please add me to any mailing list to so I can ensure I don’t miss any coupons and promotions.

TIP #4

Thank them for being a great company

Example: Once again Maple Leaf thank you for making such a wonderful healthy product for my family to enjoy and look forwards to receiving offers from you in the near future J

TIP #5 – VERY IMPORTANT

  • Include your name and full addres

PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER ….  I just had to write you and let you know that I was so happy to see that your Maple Leaf, turkey bacon was added to the approved heart & stroke’s foundation healthy food list.

I just wanted to let you know our family of 6 (with 4 teenagers) tries to ensure we eat only the best quality products like Maple Leaf, as our budget allows; it’s hard sometimes to eat right with only one income in the house and my husband being on a low fat diet.

NOTE: Please do not copy and paste directly, personalize it for your own family’s needs. Mention anything you like, don’t like or haven’t liked in the past. Example: I hear that your back now has a new recipe; I know prior I felt it was a bit salty however willing to give this new recipe a try

Add at least one different sentence in each email, as many companies are under the same umbrella of companies and multiple product emails could be going to the same place

Try it!  What do you have to lose?? What’s the worst that can happen? They can say no? Or….they could send you coupons, samples, etc…….you don’t know unless you ask
