Like my last post…..I received the main ingredient for this dessert from my Dad’s garden. Pears! But, you can use local apples and it tastes just as yummy. The best part about this recipe is I didn’t have to purchase anything to make it – everything used is a pantry item!
Pear Streusel Cake
¾ cup butter or margarine
¾ cup white sugar
1 ½ cups white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
4 tsp cinnamon
4 cups sliced pears (or apples)
Blend butter, sugar and egg together using an electric mixer. Mix until smooth. Add remaining ingredients except the fruit and mix with a wooden spoon (or your hands). The dough will be quite crumbly.
Pour ¾ of the mixture into an 8-inch pan and using your fingers, pat to make a firm base.
Arrange the sliced fruit on top of the cake and sprinkle the remaining dough on top.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 375 degrees.
Serve warm with fresh whipping cream.
